Trezor Hardware Wallet Setup

Secure your cryptocurrency with the world's most trusted hardware wallet. Follow this comprehensive guide to set up your Trezor device and protect your digital assets.

1

Unbox Your Trezor Device

Carefully unbox your Trezor hardware wallet and verify that all components are present. Your package should include the Trezor device itself, a USB cable, recovery seed cards, and some Trezor stickers.

Inspect the device for any signs of tampering. The holographic seal should be intact and untampered. If you notice anything suspicious, contact Trezor support immediately before proceeding.

2

Connect to Trezor Suite

Download and install Trezor Suite, the official desktop application for managing your Trezor device. It's available for Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

Connect your Trezor device to your computer using the provided USB cable. Follow the on-screen instructions in Trezor Suite to initialize your device. The application will guide you through the entire setup process.

3

Create Your Wallet

Your Trezor device will prompt you to create a new wallet or recover an existing one. For new users, select "Create New Wallet." The device will then generate your unique recovery seed - a series of 12, 18, or 24 words that can restore your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.

Write down the recovery seed in the exact order shown on your Trezor display. Store it in a secure location, preferably on the provided recovery seed cards, and never share it with anyone.

4

Secure Your Device

Set up a PIN code to protect your Trezor device from unauthorized access. The PIN is entered using the Trezor's touchscreen in a randomized layout to prevent keyloggers from capturing your input.

Consider enabling passphrase encryption for additional security. This creates a hidden wallet that is inaccessible without both the recovery seed and the passphrase, providing protection even if your recovery seed is compromised.

PIN Protection

Every time you connect your Trezor, you'll need to enter a PIN. The numbers are displayed in random order on the device screen to prevent keyloggers from stealing your PIN.

Passphrase Encryption
